Meet Dr. Tien Vo — The Founder
From immigrant student to physician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist
Tien VO MD is a physician whose life story embodies the transformative power of education and perseverance. Born in Vietnam, Dr. Vo immigrated to the United States as a young person, navigating the challenges of a new language, a new culture, and an unfamiliar educational system.
Despite these obstacles, Dr. Vo earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency training. He went on to build a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in clinical practice, healthcare administration, and community service.
Today, Dr. Vo serves as the founder and CEO of Legacy MD Medical Group, a multi-specialty healthcare organization providing comprehensive care across Imperial County, California. He also founded EasyAccess Care IPA, an independent physician association coordinating care for thousands of patients in the region.
National Recognition During COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Vo earned national recognition as the “rock star doctor” of the California–Mexico border. When Imperial County became one of the hardest-hit regions in the United States, Dr. Vo personally administered over 50,000 vaccine doses, often working seven days a week to protect his community. His tireless efforts were covered by the Associated Press, NBC News, and numerous national media outlets.
A Commitment to Education
Dr. Vo’s philanthropic work extends beyond healthcare. He has established multiple educational programs, including the Tien VO MD Scholarship and the Tien VO MD Grant, both designed to support U.S. college students in achieving their educational goals.
The grant specifically reflects Dr. Vo’s belief that financial circumstances should never determine a student’s future. By eliminating GPA requirements, the program acknowledges that academic transcripts tell only part of a student’s story.
